Let's talk marriage....
In my mind people give up on marriage to easily. Back in the old days it was taboo to get a divorce. Whilst I, a modern women, find this weird I do understand it to an extent. I do feel that in modern times people are giving bullshit excuses as to the reason for divorcing. This is not OK. The whole "I'm divorcing because of irreconcilable differences" is so lame. I feel that a divorce should only be granted if adultery is involved or there was domestic violence. A vague excuse, in my books, just doesn't cut. I know what your all thinking. How can you call yourself a modern women when some of your views are archaic? That's easy to answer. Unlike our ancestors I'm willing to listen to the flip side of the coin. I'm determined to make something of myself whilst keeping my traditional place within my home. I'm married so I can understand how hard marriage can be. It's funny how people automatically assume that your going to get a divorce all because you've had an argument. It is not all roses and sunshine. It takes hard work and effort to make a marriage work successfully. Marriage fundamentally is about working as a team. You have to be willing to compromise. I don't think people are often willing to do that. In the media we get dictated to about what it means to be a modern women. For many women I feel that this is the reason for the decline in people getting married at a young age. Women are often the target of these articles which is why I feel more and more of them are declining marriage proposals. The media definitely have a big affect on people. Those who have a traditional marriage get branded as weird by the media. I feel that this is part of the reason why people have lost their way. It's time to stop listening to crappy marriage advice from the crappy media and start to make up your own mind. I recently found out that many of the people giving these marriage advice are either bitter and divorced or never been married. In this sense I would only take advice from someone who is married. The bias in these articles is very apparent and should not be taken. I didn't listen to them and now I've been happily married for nearly 2 years. I love my husband and no matter how many arguments we have I will NEVER divorce him. I know that in the end he's got my back as I have his. I choose to be in a traditional relationship with him. That's what works for us. Neither of us are perfect but what makes us stand out is that we are prepared to do what it takes to stay together. I've heard a lot of people say that we are a weird couple. I didn't understand for awhile why people said this until a little while ago. It's because they haven't seen a traditional marriage in a long time. I'm not talking the modern sense of traditional - I'm talking about the traditional marriage that our grandparents and great grandparents had. Anyway that's enough of my ramblings for tonight on marriage. Catch you later
