Let’s talk ......... PREGNANCY 🤰

My Struggles With Pregnancy & The Very Real Struggle
Motherhood is a beautiful thing and it should be cherished. I find myself often wandering when I will become a mother. Unfortunately after trying for so long it hasn’t happened. Regular blood tests and lots of doctors appointment have become part of the norm. Growing up nobody tells you what’s it’s really like to get pregnant. Growing up nobody explained the emotional pain that is caused when you struggle to get pregnant. Growing up you are led to believe that it’s easy to get pregnant. Growing up a lot of things you learn about sex and pregnancy aren't completely accurate. This needs to change. The teenagers of the world want to act grown so I believe they need to learn the truth in school. This way they won’t make mistakes and it could half teenage pregnancy statistics. Having suffered a phantom pregnancy I know understand why some women who want so desperately to be mothers have depression. It’s hard to mentally take the reason why others are getting pregnant but not you. Recently a woman who lives near me got pregnant. She’s not at a healthy size and if rumours are true her diet is atrocious. This is unfair. My doctor said I had to change my diet and cut things to try to get pregnant. The sad truth is that no matter what you do some women, like myself, will always struggle with getting pregnant. With the help of modern medicine though it will eventually help many women who want babies to have them.
What I wish I knew
  • For some women it isn’t easy getting pregnant. Even if you are a healthy size there is no guarantee you will get pregnancy. Sometimes it depends on how fertile your family is. There are a lot of factors that go into it.
  • Phantom pregnancy - I never got taught what a phantom pregnancy was. Phantom pregnancy is an abnormal condition in which signs of pregnancy such as nausea and abdominal swelling are present in a woman who is not pregnant.
  • You can be born sterile. Some women will never be able to carry a baby. They may have eggs but if your born sterile you’ll have miscarriages. I’m still doing research on it. I advice you do the same.
Doctors
Getting medical assistance is no shame. Once in awhile everyone needs a little help. Getting pregnant is no different. Whilst I myself find it shameful that I can’t get pregnant like my ancestors could I will not deny that seeing a doctor is best. Dr T advices me and tries to do what she can to ensure I get my wish. If your not signed with a doctor you need to be. They will help and support you through this journey that you and your other half are going through. It does help.
Mental Health
It is said that some women’s mental health does struggle when they are struggling to conceive. It is important to ensure that your mental health is at it’s peak. I get mine checked every 4-5 months. Having had mental health issues in the past this for me is important. Having good mental health means that you’ll be a good mother in the future. Getting checked isn’t anything to be ashamed of. It’s just taking precautions so that your mentally strong for future children
Why I want to be a mother
I want to be a mother because I love children. I’m married to a wonderful man who I know will make a wonderful father one day. Raising a child is a blessing and I’m willing to take that step. Watching that child take their first steps and call for their DaDa will fill my heart. My husband and I have spoken so often. We agree on one thing. We both want to be parents. We’ve dreamt about our future little one. Half of him - half of me. Complete. FAMILY
